Insurance cost for motorcycle and first motorcycle?
Hey,
I am 18 and have never ridden before, I am looking at the Kawasaki KLR 650 and was wondering what my insurance costs would be? (approx, I live in GA-No traffic violations), I was also wondering would this be a good bike to start with? Or if not what would be? I have a daily commute of 45 miles ( one way) So it would need to pull my weight around (220) at interstate speeds. Thanks 10 pnts to best.
The best way to answer the insurance question is by calling your local insurance agents and getting quotes. My 650 costs less than $200 and I have full coverage. The KLR650 is a wonderful bike. It is plenty powerful enough to commute on and will happily cruise on the highway. I weigh 200 pounds and easily keep up with traffic. However, if you are going to use it 90% for commuting and rarely go off road, you might want to put more street oriented tires on it. Also, for toodling down the interstate in all kinds of weather, you are probably going to need some bags, a taller windshield and maybe a cruise control.
