Why won’t my auto insurance cover me for renters insurance?

They claim that since I live less than 5 miles from a coast line, they won’t cover me. I guess I’m confused as most renters insurance doesn’t cover water damage or flooding anyway. So why would this be a factor?

It covers wind damage – and within five miles of the coast, you’re pretty darned likely to have a hurricane issue.
