What to do about auto insurance policies…?

My husband has auto ins. w/Geico but he recently left for deployment. Since I’m not on the policy yet at Geico I know I have to send in the Power of Attorney to even have access of any information or to make pymts, ect.
I also know that once you are married most or all auto insurance companies require that the husband and wife are on the same policy. I was told that if I am already covered w/another auto insurance company then all I have to do is send something in to Gieco.
I am still listed w/my parents’ auto ins. coverage w/ USAA b/c they still have the title of the car & stuff that I’m driving in their name(s). But I give them $ for all the pymts (trying to get all that changed to my name if I can) Even if I am still listed w/them, I’m still covered for everything so could I just get a copy of the insurance and registration for my car and give that to Geico then be on the same policy with my husband and not get charged for it. Or what exactly would I have to do?

Call Geico without giving them too much detail, give them your husband’s insurance policy number and ask how much it would cost to add you to the policy. That’s a normal thing for married people to do and should not be any problem. After all, you’ve had insurance through USAA for a while. They’ll be happy to add you to the policy for a few hundred dollars a year.
